The BAFW package was announced as part of the 2011-12 Budget. It included 39 measures across a number of Australian Government departments. The Department of Education, Skills and Employment (formally the Department of Employment) was tasked with undertaking an overarching evaluation of the BAFW package to examine the overall impact of the package on the individuals, families, services and industries that it was designed to affect.
The Australian Government announced as part of the 2014-15 Budget that the evaluation of the Building Australia's Future Workforce (BAFW) package would cease. Consequently, work necessary to complete the final evaluation was not undertaken.
