Where appropriate, the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (the department) works closely with the Australian Skills Quality Agency, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Australian Taxation Office to deal with matters involving VET Student Loans and VET FEE-HELP providers. This may involve the exchange of information, or more direct engagement in joint investigatory activities.

Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)
ASQA is the national regulator, with the exception of Victoria and Western Australia, for Australia's vocational education and training sector. ASQA regulates courses and training providers to ensure nationally approved quality standards are met.

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)
The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in markets to benefit consumers, businesses, and the community. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with Australian competition, fair trading, and consumer protection laws.

Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
The ATO is responsible for the collection of student loans through the tax system, and holds information on VET Student Loans and VET FEE-HELP loan amounts, loan repayments and loan indexation.

Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA)
TEQSA is responsible for registering higher education providers, accrediting higher education courses offered by certain providers, and monitoring and assuring the Higher Education Standards for the higher education sector.

To assist approved VET Student Loans and VET FEE-HELP providers to achieve and maintain compliance with the VET Student Loans Act 2016 and the Higher Education Support Act 2003 the department has a range of resources available.
The VET Student Loans Provider Newsletter and the HELP Newsletter assist administrative staff with operational and policy matters relating to the VET Student Loans program.
