Find an apprentice

There are a number of ways to find an apprentice. You can:

  • employ someone you know or who has been recommended to you
  • advertise online or in the local paper
  • use an employment centre or agency
  • contact a group or registered training organisation
  • talk to your local school.

Recent changes to incentives

On 1 July 2019, the Australian Government introduced the Additional Identified Skills Shortage payment, an additional payment for employers and apprentices in occupations experiencing national skills shortages.

The incentives payment structure will also be streamlined and simplified from 1 July 2020, to make it easier for employers to understand and claim incentives. Further information on these changes is available on the Australian Apprenticeships website
