Empowering YOUth Initiatives funded 39 projects, each running for up to two years in various locations across Australia. Initiatives provided support to young people through a range of activities that included mentoring, specialised workshops, career development, work experience and social enterprises. Each project had its own objectives and eligibility criteria. Young people were not required to be on income support in order to participate in Empowering YOUth Initiatives.
Learnings from all projects will be captured in an evaluation report. These learnings will add to the evidence base for youth employment policy and programs. Work on the evaluation is due to be completed by the end of 2019. An evaluation strategy establishes the framework and identifies potential evaluation approaches for evaluation of the initiatives.
The department hosted the Innovation in Youth Employment Services forums in May/June 2018. The seven forums were held across the country to share learnings and foster partnerships at a local level. A summary was developed of the outcomes from the forums.
