The Government is providing funding, as part of the Small Business Mental Health package, announced on 9 December 2018, of $3.1 million to expand the trial of Everymind’s ‘Ahead for Business’ program.
Many of the current workplace mental health programs are designed for larger organisations and therefore don’t meet the specific needs of small business. Ahead for Business is a fit-for-purpose response to the mental health and wellbeing needs of small business owners. It includes a digital platform (app and website) that connects small business owners to evidence-based tools, programs and interventions to improve their mental health and wellbeing, tailored to their specific needs.
The expansion of the ‘Ahead for Business’ trial will allow trial data to be collected across rural regions (including drought-affected areas) and identified regions in states and territories across the country.
The funding will aid the development of a strategy with a focus on:
- Engaging small business (and other key stakeholders) through the delivery of a communication strategy and campaign
- Providing small business owners with the tools they need to take action
- Building the capacity of those working with small business to better identify concerns for small business and connect them to the supports they need.
