Foundation Skills For Your Future Remote Community Pilots

The $52.5 million Foundation Skills for Your Future Program and the $9.9 million Remote Community Pilots initiative are part of the $585 million Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow 2019-20 budget package.

The Pilots will commence early in 2020 and will run through until 30 June 2022, delivering foundation Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital literacy (LLND) skills, training and assessment in four remote communities; one in each of the Northern Territory, Western Australia, South Australia and Northern Queensland. These Pilots will provide tailored and flexible LLND skills training to meet local community needs.

The Pilots aim to:

  • improve the LLND skills of community members in the remote communities;
  • identify and develop systemic approaches to LLND skills training delivery in remote communities; and
  • inform future program delivery, new funding arrangements and/or changes to existing programs such as the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program.

The department is procuring services to support the Remote Community Pilots. Information on this procurement is available on AusTender.
