PREPARE: Employability Skills Training

Courses are designed to help young people develop core workplace skills and knowledge such as managing work life, reliability, communication skills, problem solving, teamwork and using office technology.

Training can be tailored to your business needs

If you need staff with particular skills, Employability Skills Training providers can work with you to develop tailored training to meet your business’ needs, at no cost to you. You can then recruit the best young people for your business straight from a course.

TRIAL: PaTH Internships

PaTH Internships provide an opportunity for you to trial a young person to see if they are the right fit for future employment in your business.

A PaTH Internship is for young job seekers 17 to 24 years of age who are registered with government employment services. Trials run for four to 12 weeks and you must offer 30 to 50 hours of work experience per fortnight.

Internships are tailored to suit your business

Your local employment service provider will work with you and an eligible young job seeker to design an internship placement that meets your business needs and expectations.

The provider also supports you and the intern throughout the internship.

Financial support and insurance

During the PaTH Internship, you receive $1000 to help cover the costs of hosting an intern. The Government also provides your intern with $200 a fortnight on top of their income support payment and insures interns during the internships.

HIRE: Financial incentive to hire a young person

If you hire a young person, your business may be eligible to receive a wage subsidy.

This is a financial incentive of up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) paid over six months when you hire an eligible young job seeker in an ongoing job.

Packaged with an apprenticeship

Wage subsidies can be packaged with Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Programme payments, to provide further support for your business to create apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.
