The Department provided an update on the current impacts of COVID-19 on employment services and advised that there had been no change to the current authority from Government relating to the new model. The department is continuing to work toward implementation of new employment services arrangements from 1 July 2022.
Members noted the current environment offers the department an opportunity to stress test the new digital platform to ensure the system is robust and flexible to adapt to changing environments.
Members were provided with an update on the process for registering new jobactive and NEST job seekers as a result of the pandemic, noting that all new job seekers had been referred to Digital Services in the first instance before being referred to providers as appropriate.
Members were informed of the new Jobs Hub platform developed by the department which links industries and employers to job seekers, and the establishment of an Employer Response Unit to connect businesses looking for employees and to support employers engage with the Job Hub platform.
