The Australian Government has announced the commencement of the Seasonal Work Incentives Trial.
The new two year trial, available from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2019, encourages participants to take up short term work placements in the horticultural industry, to help address the seasonal labour demands of growers.
Participants who have been receiving Newstart or Youth Allowance (other) for a minimum of three months and take up seasonal horticultural work, such as picking and packing fruit, nuts or other crops, under the Seasonal Work Incentives Trial, may be able to earn up to $5,000 without reducing their payments.
The Trial is being managed by jobactive, Transition to Work and Disability Employment Services providers, who will work closely with growers to ensure they get the right help to meet their needs.
