The first 15 of 100 small businesses from across Australia have been selected to receive a digital transformation package worth up to $20,000.
The 15 Digital Champions are each paired with a Digital Mentor — high profile innovators and leaders who will share their experience of leveraging their business through digital technology, guiding the Champions through their own digital transformation journey.
Digital Mentor Dr Sam Prince, who founded Zambrero restaurant chain, said that he’s very grateful to his own mentors who helped him, particularly when he was starting out in business.
“In the time where you’re lost and you’re in that foggy grey, they’re the ones that kind of grab you by the wrist and direct you where to go,” Sam said.
“I’ve had mentors in business who have been incredibly generous with their time since I was a 21 year old kid. And even now, I pick up the phone to them when I need help.”
Digital Champions Rachel Cornock and Andrew Tindall, who own and operate a small family-run painting business Painter 4000, said that they are looking forward to having a Digital Mentor help them get their business to the next level.
“We’ve wanted to create a website; we’ve wanted to create the things that we need to expand our digital capabilities and we’ve just lacked the time, the budget, and the knowledge to be able to create it,” Rachel said.
“We’re really hopeful that the Digital Champions Project will allow us to create a website and then successfully market to the customers that we want to attract. So at the moment, we’re forced to compete on price a lot of the time, but really we want to be able to compete on quality.”
The Digital Champions and their mentors will be featured in online, interactive case studies that document their digital transformation journeys, providing the small business community with real-life insights into the benefits of adopting digital technology.
