Paid Parental Leave

Paid Parental Leave scheme provides eligible working parents with up to 18 weeks of government-funded Parental Leave Pay at the rate of the National Minimum Wage.

The Department of Human Services is responsible for administering the Paid Parental Leave scheme. For more information about the Paid Parental Leave scheme visit the Department of Human Services’ website.

The National Employment Standards in the Fair Work Act include a minimum entitlement for eligible employees of up to 52 weeks’ unpaid parental leave which may be taken in conjunction with Parental Leave Pay. The Attorney-General’s Department is responsible for the Fair Work Act.
