Ms Kerri Hartland
Ms Hartland is the Secretary of the Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business.
Ms Hartland joined the then Department of Employment in September 2017. Directly prior to this role, Ms Hartland was the Deputy Secretary – Business Enabling Services at the Department of Finance.
Ms Hartland brings extensive experience at senior levels, having worked in eight different Commonwealth departments and agencies. This includes: Deputy Director-General of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation; Deputy Secretary – Department of Human Services, where she led, amongst other things, Service Delivery Reform; and Chief Information Officer of the then Department of Industry, Science and Resources.
Ms Hartland started life as a journalist and also spent a year working in the Canadian public service.
Ms Hartland has degrees in Arts, Economics (University of Queensland), and a Master of Legal Studies, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
