The data in the report is obtained from the Department’s Workplace Agreements Database (WAD) which contains information about every federal collective agreement made since the commencement of formal enterprise bargaining in federal workplace relations in 1991.
The most recent Trends report is the December quarter 2018 report which was published on 29 March 2019. Though Trends has no release schedule, each report is published approximately three months apart.

Interpreting the data
To interpret data in these tables correctly it is important to read the technical notes included at the end of the Trends reports.
Supplementary papers that provide detailed analysis of specific subjects are also useful to understand the data in the Trends reports.

Enterprise agreements containing wage increases that cannot be quantified are excluded from the calculation of the official Average Annualised Wage Increase (AAWI) published in each Trends in Enterprise Bargaining report. This paper analyses a large sample of non-quantifiable agreements and concludes that the exclusion of this type of agreement from the official AAWI is unlikely to materially reduce its accuracy. The paper also provides details on the characteristics and trends for all non-quantifiable agreements.
As shown in recent Trends reports, there has been a decline in the number of private sector agreements. However, coverage in the public sector has not changed significantly. This paper focuses on the private sector and reports on the observed trend in greater detail including by agreement size, industry and union coverage.
The following table contains all wage increase data for agreements made from 1991 onwards, disaggregated by industry (ANZSIC 2006).
