The Seasonal Worker Programme aims to contribute to the economic development of participating countries through seasonal worker’s experiences, remittances and training received.
To assist seasonal workers in finding the best value way to send money to their home country, there has been a free website tool created, called SendMoneyPacific or SMP, which lets you compare how much it will cost you to send money from Australia back to the Pacific Islands.
SendMoneyPacific tells you what the real total cost of your transfer is, including how much it will cost to change Australian dollars into your country’s money. It will also tell you how long it will take to send money. This website helps to keep the costs of sending money home down and can assist you to save. Use this website to choose the right option for you. All the operators listed on SendMoneyPacific are registered with the relevant financial authorities, so you know your money will be safe.
Please note that SendMoneyPacific (SMP) is only available to Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. It is not currently available to check the costs of transfers to Timor-Leste.
